Thanks, A Note on the Blog, and Upcoming Features

A thank-you to our supporters, a note on the content of these posts, and information on upcoming features at ucnuclearfree.org!

We're very happy with the feedback this new version of ucnucleafree.org has received in the short time it's been available. Thanks to everyone for your support! I'm glad some of you are finding the site useful. Again, I hope to post new blog entries just about every day.

I want to make a note about the content of these blog posts: Since the University of California is not currently in session, there isn't that much actively happening with regard to the UC Nuclear Free campaign at UC campuses. That will change in January. In the meantime, most of the posts here will concern more general topics related to nuclear weapons, the UC, and militarization. In any case, posts such as the one yesterday about Pentagon surveillance of UCSC activists* are very relevant to the UC Nuclear Free campaign, since repression of activists is something that concerns us all.

While we're here, I'll call your attention to a few other things...

For those interested, a footnotes page has been added to the "A People's History of UC Weapons Lab Management" piece. Check it out on the left-hand sidebar of the main page.

Also, I'm currently working on two new features for the Features section, which should be available before the end of the month. The working title of one of the features is "Six Decades of Subversion: The Los Alamos and Livermore Labs." That feature will chronicle the long history of scandals and abuses of power by the managers and at the labs for the duration of their management by the Unviersity of California (issues just barely touched on in the "A People's History..." piece). The other big features will be a critical study of the militarization of university campuses, with a special focus on the UC.

* Some links to Media Coverage of the surveillance of UCSC activists are now in the Comments section of the "Pentagon Surveillance..." post from yesterday.
