As a campus minister and teacher in India, a nonviolent strategist and direct action trainer in Nashville, and or a retired pastor and television show host in Los Angeles, James Lawson has had a major impact not only in many of the communities where he has lived but also through those who he has advised and inspired. Martin Luther King considered James Lawson "the leading theorist and strategist of nonviolence in the world." Lawson's activism and expertise have been profiled in numerous books and videos. He facilitates a monthly discussion on nonviolence at the Holman Methodist Church in Los Angeles (3320 W. Adams Boulevard , between Arlington Ave & Crenshaw Blvd at 5th ).
